How to stop kuhli's from being nocturnal?

I have 5 kuhli loaches and they do the typical come out at night only thing. I know some people have successfully made them stop this behavior and was wondering what I could do to slowly make them come out when lights are on? There is plenty hiding spots for them which they stay in all day, my only issue is that despite having many plants, they are all small so they don't block out much light. Any input on what to do?

I've had khulies for years, I only ever see them at night when the lights are off. You could get some "night lights" if you wanted to see them more often.

I have fairly bright lights,hiding spots, floating & moderate plants. Half of my kuhlis are out at any 1 time. How long have you had them? It takes a while & if you have large fish they hide more.

Would turning off the main lights will leaving my room lights be the same? My room lights are the typical cheap bulbs and are yellowish. Makes my room look very warm colored.

Mine have always just come out during the day, especially when fed. I've never had a problem with them not coming out during the day after a month or so

If your plants are all small, the kuhlis might not feel really safe roaming around the tank. Try adding some bottomless terra cotta flower pots or other cave-type objects. From what I've heard, kuhlis with more hiding places tend to be seen more often because they always have somewhere close they can whisk off to.

Maybe that is why. I've only had them for a week but I thought you had to train them to stop being nocturnal. I'll be patient and wait then. The biggest fish I have is my dwarf gourami.
