Tons of good info! I was gonna suggest a few things but I think they all covered.

Only thing I didn't see (might've missed it) was to make sure the glass is clean! Cleaning the glass on the inside and outside will help make the pics a lot more clear.

what kinda of camera you got? what specs? does it have a close up feature?

At the moment I have to use my parents, my digital camera broke but it was also very slow. My parents is better but I don't know the specs exactly I'll have to find the book. I'm workin on a new camera just can't decide between digital or film.
