We have two Angels sometime during the afternoon one of them laid the eggs in the attached picture. Both of them a guarding the eggs ferociously. My question is, How do we tell if one of the Angels is a male and has done his duty and fertilized the eggs or if they are both females? I did a search but failed to find anything that helped.

vent them

the females ovipositor is larger and more blunt
the male is thinner and pointed

Star_rider is right except they are done laying eggs so you will probably not see their ovipositor.

So the only way now is to see if the eggs change color or not if they all turn milky white then they are not fertilized this in and of itself will not tell you whether or not you have a pair or not. But if they stay a tanish color then you have a pair and your eggs are fertilized. You will then have to get ready you may have fry that will need BBS.

This is new to me, I've only been at this for a few months. What the heck is vent:confused:? Please don't tell me it means squeezing them until something pops out:eek3:
Thanks for the quick reply.

i don't have an answer but i have to say, your white angel is BEAUTIFUL!

David, thanks for the link. I do not want to know that badly. The eggs were gone this morning. Maybe next time one of us will see it when it happens and we'll know if we have a pair. Thanks for the replies.

With my angel pair the females ovipositor is usually visible a couple days before they actually spawn, she also gets visibly fatter leading up to spawning. Keep an eye on yours and it might help you to identify which is which.
