how to use old (used) filter media

hi, i just got an old eheim canister filter with some bioballs, ceramic rings and sera siporax and i was wondering what to do with the media to sort of "recharge" or get it back close to new? do i just clean them or do i need to submerge them in something for a given time?

for those who have experienced this, some help would be much appreciated, thanks

oh by the way, the previous owner said he used them for about 2 years :idea2:

I just took em out so they are dry now.. probably been dry for 2 weeks now..

I was in your position, i just got new media to be safe, its worth it.

Well then there is no good bacteria on it anymore. I would get some new media. But if you cant wash then in bleach (30 parts water to 1 part bleach) and than wash then in super strong dechlor, a few times.

thanks for your inputs guys.. i was planning to buy new media and use the old media with it so it won't be as expesive.. i just thought that there was a way of "recharging" the old ones.. i think i read in another forum before that someone submerges them in a solution although i don't remember what solution it was..
