How well can my betta see me?

Thanks everyone! I do think my betta associates me with food. But he fixates on my fingers when I feed him, to the point that he often fails to notice the food when I drop it in. I think he thinks my fingers are food too. This made me wonder what his perception of me is. He could be thinking either "There's the nice food-bringing creature," or "Here comes that big hunk of food bending over my tank again--I wish I could catch more of it than those little bits that fall off"

i think it s becuz they have very narrow angle sight

I don't know if it's eyesight or them just using other sensory input either. A betta I had about 15 years ago was a real determined hunter. He was in a large tank but decided to go after antennas on snails in the same tank... I'm sure those looked like tasty worm treats to him. I had to move all the snails somewhere else. I could even see him "watching" them for his chance to snag one.

Bettas definitely learn who different people are. They're a lot smarter than most people would assume. Mine constantly watches me to see what I'm doing. He likes my shoulders for some reason..... He likes my friends that go up to the tank often. I try to keep him constantly stimulated by playing games with him.

He tried snails for the first time today, didn't like it one bit. Spit the little snail out as soon as he sucked it off of the glass.

dont really know much about bettas-- I have a female in my community tank but she doesnt really seem to show much interest in me

as far as other fish go though.. my mbuna cichlids recognize me when I walk in the room-- they will follow my finger accross the glass for hours-- but they refuse to interact with anyone else in the family

they can also tell the difference between a water change and a feeding-- I always feed via the left side of the tank, so when they see the left lid open up they come swimming over and nip and the surface for food

BUT.. I start my water changes on the other side of the tank-- so when they see that lid open they take off to the nearest cave and hide from the almighty python
