How well do the fish hear?

The sub is on the opposite side of the room. It basically is setup like this. 12x15 room
X = Tank
S = Speaker
_ = floor

[S_____B______X S]
[_____ e______ X ]
[______d________]
[_______________]
[sub____________]
[_______________]
[S______tv______S]

And the sub isn't set that hihg, maybe about at half, it's powered but the level is at half.

I will tell you right now, that being in the corner, the tank is getting the biggest amount of bass.

turn it up and go stand in that corner, you will notice the bass either increase ALOT, or almost vanish.

Ive done some extensive audio stuff when I built my sub that cracked my basement windows at my old place.... and your corners, are the hotspots.

There was a post very similar to this about 5 months back...

A couple of things --

Basically, sounds affect and travel faster through denser object much better than through less dense objects (ie. air vs liquid vs solids)

Let the fish tell you what is bothering them. We can all guess this or that, but in the end its what make the fish feel stressed. If ANY behaviors are changed as a result of the sound simply scale it back until it is not outwardly affecting the fish - period.

Lastly, any and all animals will adapt suprising well to their environment. The trick is consistency. I may get some arguments here, but can anyone tell me where the 2 World Record Whitetail Deers were killed? NYC Park and another within the fenceline of an international airport! :eek:

The point, consistency, but I must emphasize one's ability to 'read' their fish's behaviors as the underlying factor in determining fish stress and thus what is 'healthy'.
