No worries. Buy some gloves that come up to shoulder level and you're fine. The only thing I would worry about is your snails passing on parasites to fish. With wild-caught snails, it can and does happen.

i don't worry about it. didn't you ever play with snails and stuff when you were little? i did. snails, frogs, clams, any kind of lifeforms i could find. and yet i am still here.
Sorry for the absence. Thing about the schistosomiasis is that it can live inside the human host for 20 years almost undetected and could be the cause of sporadic, random illnesses.. Who knows, maybe we ALL are infected and just don't know about it. Bah I held one of my snails in my hand today to sex it. I decide not to be so paranoid and just be more hygienic. After reading about the schis I decided to stop jumpstarting the gravel vac with my mouth also. Yeah, I used to do this believe it or not. :eek3:
