i want to make a hood for my 10 gallon. and i want there to be two lights on it i have fake plants so that doesnt matter but i want one light for day and a light for night. or something light that

I am no sure if this is what you are looking for but maybe it will give you some ideas.

This is a picture of my five year old daughter's 10 Gallon aquarium I built the stand and canopy in one day. PICT0063.JPG

Here is a picture of the hood. I made it out of 1 piece of 1"x6"x8' and a piece of 1"x4". The hinge is a 12" piano hinge. The hood cost an estimated $20.00 not counting the custom paint job.LOL PICT0064AC.JPG

Here I am showing the cut out for the filter and air tubing on the back side.PICT0065AC.JPG

As far as the lighting goes I use a standard hood under my canopy for the light for the 10 gallon aquarium. But I think I have what you are looking for under my hexagon hood. PICT0067AC.JPG

Here I have a standard light socket I bought from Home Depot for $6.00. It will hold 2 lamps but I found it to be too bright for the tank so I only use one. I also installed a 12" Blue cathode kit as my moon light. I purchased the Blue cathode light from eBay for $2.99 plus shipping. I use two different appliance timers, one for daylight hours and one for the moon light. PICT0068AC.JPG

I really like the effect of the moon light at night, the nocturnal feeders come out when you ordinarily wouldn't get see them feed. Anyway I hope this helps.
