Achieve world peace?

I have two ways:

1) Global Empire - An empire that spans the globe and ensures that no wars be fought by crushing all those who seek to create conflict.

2) Weapon of Terror - A weapon of such absolute power and destruction that, once used, it creates such a terrorizing result that humans are scared away from war altogether. This will only last until we forget what happened and use the weapon again.

So, what do you think will work?

The only way I see world peace happening is everyone has the exact same beliefs and belief system and no one ever wants to challenge the status quo. Pretty much a planet of braindead people. Thinking people will always challenge the status quo, and those benefiting from the status quo will always defend it by any means necessary.

World peace will be impossible, as there are too many divisions between people today. The various religious and social differences will continue to divide us, especially when these two can be used by anarchists with great effect. (Someone will always be able to exploit these) Also, we will need to establish better forms of communication in order to have world peace, a common language would be a huge step towards this. Moreover, we will need an EXTERNAL threat to unite us, as people will naturally fight and bicker on their own. Just my 2cents, we will probobly never know if it's true or not.

Also, I was thinking (for the second one) something that takes out entire small nations at once, but nukes are up there on the lest.

There are enough nukes in existence to blow what we call earth up several times. dont think it gets worse than that :thud:

we have a common language... English.

we tried the global empire thing, too. we wound up with the axis powers vs. allied powers in WWII.

we also have NATO and summits. they're not working at proficient efficiency given their "goals", either...

Look at Nagasaki and Hiroshima and rethink #2.

We have 3 common languages to unite the world - English, French, Spanish.

World peace will never be achieved as long as there are those that have and those that don't.

The only way to achieve world peace is to get rid of all the people. Unless you're ready to go that far, it's not going to happen.
