Shovel noses? No way! Those will bust the tank before you know it!

Keep 2 Bichirs and one Oscar, preferable a green tiger oscar, since those are the Oddball versions of the normal Oscar.
 
Um...I don't think 4 discus would be very happy in a 30 gallon tank......they really need at least 10 gallons per fish and lots of plants....otherwise they spend all their time hiding in whatever cover they can find.....

Having said 10 gallons per fish....at the same time, one discus in a 10 gallon would be a very unhappy camper....I think for discus you need to start with a 70 gallon.

Now, to be fair, I have never owned discus but I have read alot into them as I would LOVE to have some ! Lol.....so, not speaking from hands on experience here.
