Probably doesn't matter too much. Most mouthbrooding Cichlids form no pair bond whatsoever. Unless it's a biparental mouthbrooder such as the genera Eretmodus or Tanganicodus after breeding the male and female go their separate ways. Any male will do to make future spawns.
You know the female can! As long is the male is a normal healthy individual, yes. Best to give her a bit of time to recover though. Odds are she's eaten little to no food for the past month.
