I suggest starting a thread in the FW Forums giving more detail if possible.
Try to include tank size, exact mix of fish with gender if possible, current water parameters from a good liquid test kit (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH), and how long the tank has been established.
In any case, water changes always help a fish to recover and can not hurt.
