How's my cycle?

Im in the process of cycling my 28 gallon bowfront.....IM unsure if everything is the way it should be.....what do you guys think?

Cycling w/ 7 Danios Temp between 79-81 deg.


Day 1: Ph:7.2 / Ammonia .25 / Nitrite 0 / Nitrate 20

Day 3: Ph 7.2 / Ammonia .25 / Nitrite .5 / Nitrate 20

Day 5: Ph 6.8 / Ammonia .5 / Nitrite 0 / Nitrate 20

Day 8: Ph 7.2 / Ammonia .5 / Nitrite 3.0 / Nitrate 20

Day 11: Ph 7.2 / Ammonia .5 / Nitrite 3.0 / Nitrate 20

WATER CHANGE

Day 15 : Ph 7.2 / Ammonia .50 / Nitrite 1.0 / Nitrate 20

Looks like you may have some ammonia and nitrates present from your water source--do you have chloramines? Have you tested your water source directly?

what bio filtration are you using? i am finishing a 75 g cycle and my ammonia peeked at 2+ and nitrite at 1.5- 2. and it took me 4 1/2 weeks to finish. Of course I was using 24 goldfish but your ammonia should have leveled off by now.

Forgive me for being a complete noob....what steps should I take to ensure a successful cycle? As fas as testing my tap water....what should I do if I do have ammonia & nitrates in my water? ( I am assuming that I do have nitrites in my tap water cause they have been at 20 since the beginning of the cycle.)

You should change enough water to keep ammonia and/or nitrite below 1 ppm. Letting nitrite get to 3 ppm is really hard on the fish.
