hugh newbie mistake

well sad to say that my clown fish died today. now all i have left is a turbo snail and hopefully my orange and green zoo's are still alive i haven't seen them come out in a few days though so i don't know. this is sad. i have broke the hole tank down and am starting from scratch now. this sucks. now all i will use is r/o water and make sure i am checking the sg in the tank. which will probably be 5x's a day now. i am so frustrated. i guess it is a lesson learned and i will grow from it.

I'm a little confused. Why would you break down the whole tank instead of just lowering your salinity slowly? Remove a few cups of water, add in a few cups of RO (no salt water), wait a few hours and repeat until you get the salinity down to 1.025ish..?

Did you lower the salinity in one swoop? If so the fish were probably shocked by the rapid change. Fish can be very resiliant to gradual change but instantly putting them back to what they 'should' be in probably caused more harm than good.
