Huh? I have a toadlet?

I thought it was a fish too on first glance, but if you look a little more closely what appears to be the 'body' of the fish is just the cast shadow from the tail. The dark streak could be feces, or it could be an external gill. Many tadpoles have external gills when they first hatch, and they often resorb them more quickly on one side than on the other.

Just my two cents.

I'm pretty sure its a tadpole because there is only toads in the tank, theres never been any fish. I don't know how it would have got there if it is a fish....that would be perplexing.

I now have 2, heres some more pics.

What are they?

Deffinately a fish from the close up. Looks like a miniature female betta, although with that mouth & tail, it seems like a top dwelling killifish, like Noto said.

There could have been eggs attached to some plants or other additions to the tank.

The more I look at that fish the more I'm convinced it's a betta.

Feed them crickets.
The plants I have added recently I grew myself in soil and then just moved them into water. They weren't around any fish.
As for other additions...there hasn't been anything that has come from around fish... bag of gravel and a piece of diftwood- both dry and packaged when I bought them.

I have no idea where these guys came from.
Very strange.

Do you even have a kind of fish that would look like that? Did you use the same bucket of water or python to fill up the toad's tank after using it one of your other tanks?

Don't have a fish that looks like that, that I know of...
I don't have betta or killi....

I use a seperate bucket and syphon for the fish and the toads.
