Someone brought up the idea that all life was a virus (or sorts) and would spread and destroy everything it touched, if it could overpower all the other viruses. That same person then came up with the idea that humans were a supervirus and as such were destroying everything else. He was his line of thought:
Viruses enter a cell, change it to suit their purpose, and then the cell dies. The virus then spreads somewhere else and continues it's rampage.
Humans enter an enviorment, change it to suit their purposes, then the enviorment is destroyed. Humans are then forces to look elsewhere for new resources and continue their rampage.
All life, if permitted, would do just what we do, but humans are a "supervirus" thanks to our ability to A) Adapt, B) Overpower everything, and C) Change an enviorment using tools. Our advanced intellegnece allows us to create tools and spread more efficiantly.
Personally, I think the guy was watching too much Matrix
