how I mine for fish?

I wake up this afternoon to see that one of my angelfish (small about 1.5") has some fungus on its left fin! It looks like another fish tried to rip her fin off! :sad:

The only culprit could be either the larger 4" angel in the same tank or one of the Blue Rams. In either case, I've already transferred her to my 20 gal. hospital tank, which already has another angelfish (same size) in there for observation on suspicion of ick. I'll be picking up a heater for that tank and some melafix later today, anything else I should do?

Also, I think the ick spread to my tank before I could get the first angel out of there, I noticed 2 white spots on the fin of another angel, should I transfer her to the hospital as well, or just go ahead and medicate the entire tank to get rid of it in one fell swoop?
 
Mixing angles of different sizes often results in fights--angels are territorial, and newcomers are not welcome.

Medicate the entire tank--all the fish have been exposed, removing the angel for treatment may leave the parasite in the gills of the other fish, resulting in reinfection down the line.
 
Well, ick or not, I still have an injured angel. Should I transfer my angel from the the hospital to my main tank, and leave the injured fish in the hospital, then medicate both tanks simultaniously?

What kind of heater should I get for my 72 gallon? I've never really bother with heaters since Florida is usualy so warm, but we've had a few coldfronts and now both tanks are at 72-74 degrees. Whats a good brand of heater?
 
It is always a good idea to put sick/injured fish in a hospital tank where they won't be picked on by their healthy counterparts. Since you have ich, if you choose to go that route, medicate both tanks for ich.
 
I just got back with a 250 watt Marineland Stealth heater and a bottle of melafix, but it dosent look likle the angel is gonna make it :( .I found her laying sideways on a plastic plant, then I went to see if she was ok, she just sorta limped upward...more like floated upwards, then got caught in the filter current. I unplugged the filter and now shes just flaoting at the top, barely moving. Should I euthanize? :sad:

I tried, I really did. I borrowed some cash from my mom, went out and got another heater for the hospital tank and some salt. Guess it was too little, too late :(. It was such a beautiful angel, had yellow eyes....
 
I share your pain... ever have a school of baby angels picked apart and murdered by a school of diamond tetras? That was the ultimate humiliation...
Regardless, Im sorry for your loss...
