ok, i got a coral beauty the other day, and he seems to have a spot where either scales have fallen off, or are bleached white. its not any type of a fungus, and the rest of him seems to be perfect. he is hiding a bit more than he did a few days ago. any ideas of what this could be?

It could be a bacterial infection, fungus ," even with no white fuzzies", or a bite . I'd just keep an eye on it to see if it gets any worse. Is is still eating well and if it's in hiding more so than when you introduced it I'd say it's due to increased stress. Do you have it in a hospital tank or in your main tank? Are there any other inhabitants that could be stressing or hurting it? I'd treat it if it looks like a parasitic infection or bacterial infection and it doesn't show signs of improvement fairly quickly. Try to find out what it has before you start treatment.
hth and keep us posted

its always hides alot, but i will notice it picking at the live rock quite a bit. its in my main tank with a yellow tang that might be pushing it around a bit.

The tang might be stabbing it with it's tail barb to. I've never heard of one going after an angel but if it got too close... Does the spot look like it's getting bigger or is it staying about the same? From what you've said so far I'd suspect some kind of infection either parasitic or bacterial but, that's sort of a blind guess.
Best of luck
Chris

i dont think the tang is attacking it because there are no other marks on the fish, just that one. it it staying around the same size, but its tough to tell, he has a lot of places to hide.
