Hydor inline heater minor problem

I am setting up a 47 gallon tank and selected a Fluval 305 filter and a Hydor 300W inline filter. The problem I have is connecting the corrugated Fluval tubing to the Hydor heater connectors. It leaks badly.

Anyone had this problem and found a solution? Is there some kind of adapter to connect the flexable Fluval tubing to the Hydor? What about a separate water pump and lines?

These are the only things I can think of and I haven't found the parts I need to make them work. Since Fluval is very popular, I suspect there are others out there that have already solved this problem. :idea:

If you take apart the heater, you can remove the end caps with the barbs on them, and are left with a 1 1/4" opening.

You could then find some kind of adapter to fit inside there.

other than that, why not just buy some regular tubing?
 
I wouldn't take apart the heater...

I just installed my hydor today, it was no problems and no leaks with the eheim tubing. I would suggest finding a tube that fits, or use a step down where you need it...

did you get the right size heater for the tubing your filter uses?

the tubing is soft, right?

edit: sorry, just saw that the tubing was corrugated. I think I've seen corrugated to smooth tubing clamps before... just don't remeber where. you should check outwater plastics.
 
all that corrugated tubing is, is flexible wiring conduit :)

Hopefully, you would look into replacing the tubing before taking apart the heater :)

I however, Will be disassembling my own to plumb it into 1/2" PVC by using some reducer bushings.
 
I love the hydor, by the way, I installed it in 15 minutes and it's keeping the temerature dead on, without creating any hot water out the return. I was worried it would be returning really hot water, but it's hardly noticable. my old heater would sometimes cause heat ripples in the water that worried me.

it turns on and off more often than the old one too. was a little startling at first.
 
I Replaced the corrogated tube with regular Fluval tube. Any tubing that is the right size will work:)
