Hi,

After I bought a blue gourami (also called triple spotted) she ate all the 'white algea' in my tank before I found out is was hydra. Then I read that those fish are great for getting rid of the stuff. I got lucky. I don't know if this will help you any, but thought I'd mention it. Good luck!

I've also heard gourami will eat hydra. My Endler's pecked at the tiny ones and cleaned them all off. A couple of the large ones (as big as the fish) had to be manually removed.

Cut back on your feedings to prevent them from spreading more... I've also heard extra water changes are good, and hydra don't care much for flow.

I did both the water changes and reduced feedings. Your fish may also show more interest in eating hydra if they are fed less...
