How do you get rid of hydra in a snail/ shrimp tank?

I have MTS, ramshorns, one brigg and one horned nerite. I also have a nice colony of cherry shrimp. The tank is a 5 gallon and I have seen a few small hydra on the glass.
Can I get rid of the hydra without hurting my snails and shrimp? The tank is also planted.

If they are confined to the glass you can use airline tubing to suction them out. Get a flow going and tackle them one by one with the end of the tubing.

I would say feed less but then they are probably feeding on your baby shrimp. Did you notice a decrease in your shrimp colony since seeing the Hydra?

I know A LOT of people here will say that lighting has nothing to do with them because they are not photosynthetic but whenever I get them I cut the photoperiod back to almost nothing and they go away. I am not a proponent of adding stock to take care of a problem but if you can get your hands on a single Spixi that would also take care of it.

I'm not sure if they are only on the glass. Those are just the ones I've seen. I have been sucking them up when I do water changes but they always come back.

Fenbendazole isn't safe for my snails

Where did you get this information from about the Fenbendazole? I had hydra in my Assassin Snail tank with a ton of MTS/pond/ramshorns and cherry red shrimp and they are all fine.

It is a 10 gallon, I got one packet used a very small amount like those mcdonalds ketchup cups, I do about 1/4 of the bottom add water than stir. Than dump it in the filter.

If you been sucking up hydra, that just means you sucked up only the ones you saw. They are very elusive and best to treat the whole tank.

There was someone on here who tested using Fenbendazole. The shrimp, ramshorn, and all were fine but the brigs and the nerites were effected. Some even died and they couldn't put them back in the tank again. I have no where to move my brig or nerite.

Here's the thread:

I just don't want to risk it.

I haven't noticed fewer baby shrimp, but I would rather take care of the hydra before it gets to that point.
