Well I finally got some light over my tank, and now I can actually see whats going on in there. There are spots all over my glass, that I have identified as mostly hydroids, but also a lot of the little spiral calcareous worms. Are either of these problematic or indicators of anything (good or bad)? Will it be a problem if I just scrape them off periodically to keep the glass clear?

This is one photo posted by macphoto in the hitchhikers thread, but they look pretty much exactly like these. Max of 1mm width, they're very tiny, and there are probably a dozen or more across the front glass of my tank.

If I just scrape them off the glass, will they reattach someplace else?

Whats with the boiling water?
