I have found what appears to be a couple small colonies of hydroids on my live rock. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? I haven't found anything in any of the books I have.

hydroids are harmless to your aquarium, so I don't think you need to get rid of them

Not from what I've read about them. They can sting fish and corals, and can spread, much like aptaisia. I'd rather get rid of them now before they take over the liverock.

Wouldn't that kill the other "good' organisms on the rocK?

Most likely. The rock with the worst outbreak is also at the bottom with corals and such around it, so I really don't want to remove it. I did a search on reef central, and found a thread where people were recommending peppermint shrimp. I bought 3 this weekend, so we'll see what happens (assuming my maroon clown hasn't eaten them yet).
