I read that most of the Hypancistrus species are omnivorous, and most enjoy a fairly meaty diet. If given a balanced diet, do they do anything for algae control?
I'm looking at getting a couple of the smaller fancy plecos, and like the look of many of the Hypancistrus (particularly L399, L340). However, I probably need the guys to help out with some light / medium growth.
Might the Hypancistrus help me out, or should I think about a different route?
