I can't contain my excitement!!!

It's about time!

I'm so thrilled!! He's so curious... he's even blown a few bubbles!! Can you imagine!! Being in that stuffy box tossed and twirled about... and he's here on my desk, chillin' and making little bubbles along the edge of the inside of his baggie. ^___^

He has big eyes and a cute little upturned nose... and his crown tail is just so neat! My other bettas never had anything quite like this. And it's hard to imagine him being so young. He's small, but his fins are better than any of the male bettas his age I ever sold when I was breeding them.

Or maybe I'm just in luuuuv... oh, those rose-colored glasses. ^_______^

I'm just itchin' all over to get him out of that cloudy yellow water he's in and into my nice big clean tank! I bet he's gonna be every bit as pretty as he is in those photos once he gets settled in.

I moved a quartet of ghost shrimp into the tank as well, so there will be him, 4 shrimp, and one red ramshorn snail. We'll see how they mesh together. I'm worried the shrimp will try to eat Damien's tail, so I'm gonna be really cautious about this combination. I'll try adding the cardinals later.... I have to find a place around here willing to sell 'em first!! O__o;;

If I do, then I'll shift the ghosties into another tank.

grats on your new baby ;)

do you have any pics yet? any any any any any?? lol he's so beautiful! I want to see more of him besides the stock bid-on-me photos! lol

It was so neat seeing him explore the tank for the first time. And too cute when he found the coconut shell cave I bought. It has the little cave entrance on the side, plus my coconut happened to also have a hole at the top, too in one of the 3 coconut pits in the shell. I'd forgotten the hole was there because it faces toward the back corner of the tank so I was sitting there watching him and I saw him look down and just sort of drift downward, wiggle briefly, and disappear!!

Next thing I see, he's popped his head back out the hole! It was so cute. He bobbed twice, ducked back inside, and then he shyly peeked out the corner of the side entrance. It was just too precious. He loves that little 'skylight' on the coconut cave. I also got to see him stalk the baby ghost shrimp that were free-floating in the tank. He definitely gives off this whole show of 'lookit me... I'm a big fierce predator!' as he stalks through the hygrophilia in search of his shrimpy prey. :)

He came out of the bag hungry, but it seems he's used to eating live foods. He hasn't given the pellets I've offered much notice, but he's been eating the shrimp babies and the thawed bloodworms quite readily. And once he seemed happy and settled in, I tried him against a mirror and all I can say is:

:eek: WOW :eek:

The picture couldn't be more serious about the spread of his finnage... it's amazing. Like a japanese geisha's fan. And he's spunky about it too, still flaring long after I put the mirror away as if to say 'Heh!... you wanna piece of this?? Come back and be served, fool!!!'

I'm not sure if it is that he's still settling in or if it's my low-wattage, blue-tone lighting or that the image was doctored to intensify the contrast. Perhaps a combination of these. He's very dark in color in my tank... with the red being very rich and deep and his body is a lovely midnight indigo color... not quite blue and not quite black. He also has a shimmering of steele blue color along the top line spreading down toward his tail. But all in all a very velvety color that contributes to his dark hues and makes them more intense, I think. It could be my imagination, but his pectoral fins look very big for his size, too. And he has the cutest little bug-eyed face!! And a perfect 'bubble lip'.

I'd have pictures by now, but my friend forgot to bring her camera by last night. I'm going to the Zoo tomorrow for a company picnic, but I'll try to steal the camera and get some photos up as soon as I humanly can... maybe even a short video of him with his fins flared or doing his cute little coconut act. :D

I'm totally in love with this little fella...

3 days and still no pics?
