I did it! I bought plants, now what?

dang it! Whats the purple one? They called it "crinkle" "Kringle"???

It's an ivy, native to Indonesia. Yours is either Hemigraphis reptans or Hemigraphis alternata.

Common names are Red Ivy, Cemetary Plant, Metal-leaf, Purple Waffle Plant, and Red-flame Ivy.

My lighting is...GE, fresh and salt water, lumens 950, watts 20 (2 bulbs), cri 67. In a 55

Its some random Hemigraphis plant, also called purple waffle, red krinkle etc. Freshwater plants, just like fish, need to be thoroughly researched before purchased. There are a couple threads on here listing commonly sold nonaquatic plants. Mondo (Kyoto) grass, varigated Dracaena, Borneo fern/Peacock fern/Aquafern, Japanese Rush, bamboo, and pothos ring a bell off the bat.

What is your lighting? Anarchis is usually left floating, though some people keep it in the substrate.

I laughed to... I did all kinds of research, but these ones caught my attention, and I thought maybe its something I missed. But that's what
I get for thinking!

lol now we laugh that you got screwed over hahahah. ok now that thats over.... lol i would read up more on plants so next time you find something that doesnt die. you could also buy plants from people on the forums to make sure you get real aquatic plants.

My leaves are not shaped like those, and they have a silverish green(Tiny amount), but they are really deep purple, looks like a flower bud on the end? Maybe a cousin breed?

Okay. Hard to tell from the pics you posted. These are two of the "waffle" plants. Either way, it's not aquatic.

LOL! Your so mean, you need to hang out with my old man....:evil_lol: shop lights?

prob going to want more light over that. for a 55 gallon a good starter is 2 bulb shop lights. not the best but can work for low light stuff like moss anubias ferns.

on a side note.... thinking is over rated.... please dont let us catch you trying to do it again.

yeah ur gonna need a bit more light then that.... 2 watts per gallon is an OK amount of light... so aim for around 100-130watts

:) Welcome to the aquatic plants hobby, breeze. In the aquatic plant world, you will find a lot of fascinating plants that can be put in your home aquarium! but remember, you may will eventually need to spend some good money on equipments like lights, co2, plant food, substrate, (good investment however) depending on your budget. You can try low light plants first, which is easy.
