I finally got my u.v. sterilizer.

My cousin brought over my birthday gift that I picked out last week, a u.v. sterilizer. It's a double helix 18 watt. Here are some pics. I will change the position of everything when I pick up more tubing. We just set it up now, so I will fool around with everything when I get the tubing. I plan to put the whole unit under the tank.

Congradulations!! Looking good.

Just one piece of advice. I can't tell for sure from your pics, but I would put a prefilter on the power head. This will keep a lot of the gunk out of the sterilizer. It will cut back on taking it apart for cleanings. Also it will help it work more effectively.

I have mine installed on the return line from my canister. I take it apart every 3-4 months and its pretty clean. I'm pretty sure that is how 80gJoe has his also.

Yes, thanks Tyler718, I did that also... Here you can see the UV is on the far left hooked into the Filstar canister filter.

I got mine a week ago. I had Pea soup water and in 4 days crystle clear water, they do work good.I have mine on the return off my magnum 350.
