Your idea will work perfectly fballguy. If you can't get a nice polished aluminum reflector, try just painting the inside surface of the box with flat, white paint. Rustoleum works well for his application.

Believe it or not, flat white is rated very highly for reflecting light into a tank after aluminum and mylar.

Actually I have a better idea. Tonight at school I'll get a scrap of 1/16 inch aluminum, and sand it smooth. Then it will basically be a mirror.
