There's definitely a neon tetra fry in my girlfriends tank.

Only one though.

I don't know how it got there, or where it came from, but it's there.

The tank is lightly planted (a sword and crypt) with 6 Neons.

She was looking at her tank and called me all excited to tell me that she had one.

When I showed up, sure enough it was in there.

I'm 100% sure it's a neon as it has a blue sheen on it like all the others do.

Plus theres no other free swimming fish (no guppies, danios, etc...)

As of right now I have it in a 1 gallon tank (plastic, no filter) I've added some leaves from the sword to keep it a little more relaxed. I plan on adding a bubbler and changing the water every other day (30%???) I don't want it to stress and die though, so I might change the amount up.

I'll post pictures in about an hour or so.

Any advice?

Yes, they're amazingly hard to breed, most are wild caught from Africa, either that or they're bred in fish farms from asian countries. That's why I was so excited. I only found one, and it's tiny, that's why it's so hard to get a picture of it (all I have is a point and shoot) I'll post pictures up within an hour.

PS: I've looked and looked, but can't find anymore fry, which is why I somehow think this is a fluke of some sort. I wasn't purposely trying to breed them at all. Idk, it's weird.

nice,]
but aren't neon tetras from south America?

btw, a friend of mine who does not keep fish the same level as us.. started out with 10 in a 20..
his tank swarms with them and he has never added any fish.

his trick turned out.. his son loves marbles so there are a bunch of them in the tank.. which works out well for egg scattering fish.

go figure

Well... sometime a male and a female will try to become a Daddy and a Mommy. You can think of the females as birds and the males as bees. This is known as the birds and the bees. Then picture the bees having sex with the birds... I'm not sure why they do this but apparantly they do...

A little while later a baby fish is born.

;)

/sorry I'm no help..
