I give up..

Well I made the jump. I got 6 platies, 6 pepper cories and a bushynose cat. So far they all seem fine but they are dwarfed in the large tank. (77g). I wanted to go slowly but I'm also concerned that I need a bigger bio-load or all the cycling would be for not.

So should I go out and get some more fish today or am I okay right now and should wait a few days?

By the way the whole family has been sitting in front of the aquarium and loving it - even the older kids that didn't seem to interested in things before. It's great

Yaaaay! I'm so happy for you! I'm so glad you were finally able to add them. :) Pictures?

Id go with 2 clown loaches one if your tank is under 20 gal
theyll help get your tank into
a stable mode so that you can add
more fishies and there hardy
enough to live even if your water params arent
textbook perfect, plus they only need like once a week water changes
and they dont have tempermant like chineze
algae eaters can. Ive got 3 in my 65 gal go for it !!..
buy 2 and i bet you theyll make it keep me posted.
I mean its not like your not making every attemp possible
to have a clean and stable enviroment ... Id worry if you
werent making any attempt at all and just have a tank and some
water and want fish ... start with the hardy fish first

<Rant>
Why give info that you dont know.....Two clown loaches in a 20g?? You know they can get a foot long right? And please explain how they help the tank get into a "stable mode"...sorry im not trying to be an ***...but dont give information that is incorrect. Also IMO clown loaches arent a good cycle fish....try danios or feeder goldfish. </rant>

Errr, it's really not a good plan to try to switch from fishless to fishy in mid course. You'd have to do the same ginormous water change and then you still need to go through the same build-up of bacterial colonies. If you start fishless, you may as well stick with it, as AD did, adding fish isn't going to fix any problem that you may be encountering and it only adds one more level of complexity to troubleshooting.

Seaman is probably right if you only have a 20
gal, maybee only one clown loach would be good.
My clown loachs grow about an inch every 18 months not exactly
a speedy grower. I think only wild ones get 12 inches store bought
ones usually max out at around 6 or 7 inches.
by the way great looking tank ... the pleco will
get bigger than a clown loach would, well good luck
oh and did i mention great looking tank .. :D
one suggestion though get one more cory for yourself
of the same species so they can be buds 4 life.. :o
fish need freinds to ... ack ive edited this post like 10 times
now going to take a few steps back now congrats :bowing: :bowing:
