hello everybody! :)

i have a 30g with a aquaclear 20g HOF (i had a 20g but switched to 30 ) the 20g filters are 45bucks@!!! aint that expensive! 30g is 56!!!! lol oh yea i have a good heater and 5 eel grass with 5 other hardy plants *i think* theres a medium sized driftwood in there.

i have 5 cloud mountains in there and thats about it .... except some malaysian snails watever there called :) the tiny ones

what do u guys thikn i should put in there or how many more fish can i put in
im interested in tetras or more cloud mountains

hmmm or should i just get 30 clouds..
 
I like to stock my tanks with a variety of fish that use different areas of the tank.

Start with picking a "show" fish....a larger type that you really like...for a 30g that could be 2 or 3 angels, one or two of the larger size gourami (opeline, blue, pearl)...possibly a couple of rainbows (boesemani or turquoise)..but I'm not really sure about those...check with RoanArt on that for size tank requirements...there's a thread on the "General Freshwater" section that discusses rainbows. Just find some larger size fish that is appropriate for a 30gallon tank.

Then you can start picking tankmates from there. Get a list of midsized schoolers that are compatable with the larger fish you choose. There are many different types of tetras or rasporas to choose from that make nice schoolers. A group of at least 5 of these for starters.

After that you pick a type of bottom dweller that will help to keep the gravel broomed and tidy. Corys are great fish for that....and there are many different types of those to choose from as well. They like to be in groups so no less than I'd say...5....so pick one of the smaller species of cory..to keep the load down. Or there are some smaller species of loach that will do in a 30 as well. YoYo loach or kuhliis will be ok in a tank that size. Also, think on what type of gravel to get with these fish...they prefer smaller grain to sand type substrate rather than large chunky gravel.

Anyway...there are plenty of different types of fish to choose from in stocking your tank. I find this system of deciding which ones you choose....helps alot !!
 
Did you fishless cyle this tank before adding the minnows?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, I'll give you a link to a great article on it.

And if you think a 30 gallon filter is expensive... My 90 gallon has two $70 filters that will be on it (only one's on it now). That's $140 for filters alone... Yep, this hobby isn't cheap!

Emg- Angelfish get too big for a 30 gallon (6 inches long, 12-18 inches high). Also, if they pair off they you have a full-fledged war zone.

As for stocking, white cloud mountain minnows do best in schools of 6, as do tetras. Following these rules, you could have:

6 of either if these (plus your minnows and 1 more for a total of 6):

Glowlight Tetra
Neon Tetra
Black Neon Tetra
Cardinal Tetra
Cochu's Blue Tetra
Emperor Tetra
Splashing Tetra

And 1 of either of these:

Dwarf Gourami
Pearl Gourami
Honey Gourami
Chocolate Gourami
Moonlight Gourami
3-Spot (Blue) Gourami

And 4 of either of these:

Corydoras Catfish
Cherry Shrimp
Ghost Shrimp
Amano Shrimp
Kuhli Loaches

A combination of any of the above fish would be a beautiful, and very interesting display.

thanks 4 eveythin :soda: But! ;) woundnt it be a hasle cleaning the bottom of the tank *gravel cleaning u have to take all the live plants and the decorations out becasue poop can get anywhere and there will be quite alot of *poop* 4 that many fish.? or should i just leave it for the plants to take. hmmm

oh yea and i can feed them all flakes rite ? oh and ill give the sinking pellets to the bottom dwellers * i got shrimp pellets but do they need a vuriety?
 
food depends somewhat on the fish.
flakes are okay but you may want to supplement that with other food brine shrimp , blood worms etc.

so did you decide on what you wanted to put in there?

if you look at angels remember the 1 angel to 10 gallon ratio.

they do get large but you should be fine with a 30 and to angels.

are you cycling the tank with the clouds?

as far as filters..do you have access to Petsmart?
they have the ac 200 for around $20

The minimum tank size for angels at Liveaquaria is 30 gallons......I have never seen an anglefish 18 inches tall !! :eek: If they do indeed get that large...they are way to big for any tank less than one that is at least 30inches tall.....not very many of those around..!

update of my tank:

i got 2 Silver Veiltail Angels and one chinese aglae eater :) the chinese agle eater seems to be very shy
