I got a Black Ghost Knife

me too. i always read before hand to make sure my tank can handle the fish and the other fish are compatable.

anyway, you are going to want to give him a good variety of foods. bloodworms, some guppy or platy fry now and again, and some other frozen or live foods.

My black ghost likes...

My Black Ghost likes bloodworms best, Brine shrimp second best. He'll even eat freeze dried krill. I feed him 2x a day. I was told 1x is sufficent.
I was told that blackworms are the favorite food but none of my LFS have any and as he did well right of the bat with the other foods I haven't been in a rush to find them. I will soon though.
He's a happy fish that is mainly nocturnal but comes out with the lights on too. I put some lunar lights in my tank which I turn on around 8pm. The look is awesome. I have several lights and turn some off as the night goes on. My fish is still young but from my research I thought max would be 20 inches and probably only 12 inches. I haven't trained him to eat out of my hand yet.
1 thing I do to make sure he gets plenty of food is the night before I do a water change I overfeed my fish a little. Then the next morning I clean the tank and change water. Whether this is a good practice or not I don't really know. It hasn't caused any problems yet so I do it.
Definatly have at least 1 cave for your Ghost. I put one of those clear ones in and made a slate one too. He uses both.

I agree with aquabach; bloodworms 1st choice, brine shrimp second, but im surprised nobody has mentioned flake food. Yes, the mighty BGK eats flake food like a common guppy. GK's also eat small fish, so if you wonder where your neons went... now you know. My BGK is given thawed bloodworms for dinner and flake food for breakfast.

About hand feeding them, lots of people do this but I am against it. Just for no particularly good reason but I like my fish to be wild, not tame.

And some advice. the BGK takes a good three weeks to become comfortable in its new home. dont try to make it eat or make it come out of hiding. Let it be. Soon he/she will be all over the place, but mostly at night.

lol where did your neons go... (GK have a VERY big mouth), what tank size are you keeping your GK dojo?

Also let me be the 1st to say congrats on your new fish. Ive always wanted one. They really are some very intresting and unique fish IMO.

Don't bother trying to tame it yet. Let the little guy acclimate and get settled. Wait a least a month before sticking your hands in there, it will only stress the BGK out. Put that on the bottom of your to-do list.

Mine was especially fond of frozen bloodworms, frozen beefheart (his favorite) and shrimp pellets.

As for sexing, it is said that they have a difference in the girth and length of their tails, however it's hard to say, especially at only 2.5"

My GK is in my 300...did you mean to ask about my dojos though?
