So 2 days ago 21 eggs hatched and will be buying another tank tomorrow(Saturday). Now is there such a thing as TOO MUCH filtration? if I can only afford a 15gallon and I have a 23gallon (14 fish in it) how many can I keep in each and how many filters would I need for a slight over stock?

Will be buying a bigger tank in march or April if I don't need to do it right away.

You can keep the fry in a small tank for quite a while. Plan on doing daily water changes, with conditioned water, until the fry are free swimming and active. Keep the water shallow--cories need to get to the surface for air, and shallow means fewer calories burned. Most breeders use plastic shoe boxes until the fry are a week or two old. At that point, they can go in a 10 and be fine for several months.

Yea right now I have them in a 1 gal betta tank. So I need to drop the water level when I get home then... 2.5 month for 21 ish fish would be ok in a 10 gal with a cycled filter?

Yep. You'll want to do water changes and monitor, of course, but keeping them in a small space helps. It means they all can find food, for example. They're a social fish, too, so having lots reduced their stress level.

I would also suggest an air pump driven sponge filter for your fry tank. That will keep them from getting sucked into a filter & provide a place for them to graze on "auf wuchs", the micro-goodies that will grow on the sponge.

You will need to squeeze the sponge out in old tank water when the flow slows.

When I set up my tank (10-15gal)for my babys, how high should I put the water?
