I got a stupid virus.

Well It yes I have a critical system error, the icon is a ? and a X sign. Then somtimes it says with a ! inside a yellow triangle and it says i have a trojan horse in my system. And my system is going to go slowly because of it.

Windows will not give an error that says "you have a trojan". Only an anti-virus will give you any sort of warning about a trojan or a virus. A good virus does its best to keep itself completely unknown, it certainly isn't going to put up a billboard proclaiming "here I am!".. No, what you are seeing is simply an IE pop-up designed to get you to click and go to the sponsor. I see them all at time here at work where we run IE6. Go to www.microsoft.com and download the IE7 beta. Your "virus" problems will vanish because it doesn't allow pop-ups. However, I strongly suggest you get a real AV program, such as Norton, and a firewall, again such as Norton. Right now, CompUSA has Norton Internet Security for $19.99 after rebates. Free programs, such as AVG, are ok, but they don't get the reseach and updates like Symantec puts into their software. I personally run Norton, and would never run without it.

edit: While are microsoft.com, get Windows Defender. It's Microsoft's anti-spyware program and it is quite effective.

What Corax said. . ..

Except, i got one of those viruses... popup telling me how I had a critical error, my PC was infected with a virus, and it suggested I run a software called "virus burst" which they make seem is an antivirus, (but in fact, is the virus itself, disguising itself as the antivirus!!)

When I got this, I updated my PC, nothing. Tried norton corporate with newest updates, adaware, spybot, nothing.

Finally, I googled "virusburst" and found a link for a very good uninstaller... It was pretty easy to follow the steps...

That's why, the more info you can give, the better the chances you can find an uninstaller. . .
