I got new problems (continuations probably) Hole in the head???? Help plz

My LFS don't have anything in stock - one guy is sold out and the other said to use copper which I said NO to. I am talking about medication. I can hit the road and see if any shops further out have anyhting but if that fails where might be a good place to Mail Order some med's from???

Ark, I have 50 Jungle Parasite Clear Tank Buddies I can send you if you can't find anything your way. The active ingredients are praziquantel, diflubenzuron, metronidazole, and acriflavine.

Thank you Snoops - I will let ya know later today - I am going to drive to a different town and see if I cant find any there. If I was to Get some from you I am sure I could just mail order some from a Mail Order Joint but who knows? Thanks, CDC

Only problem I see is that hexamita has never been proven to be always associated with HITH. Studies show cases without the presence of the parasite.

You can try medicating, and hopefully it works, but be prepared to dig deeper into the problem.

WELL - I gota start somewhere? I cant find any local med's - they are ether sold out or don't carry it. I even called the next town over and I got ZIPO!!!!!!!!!! I was able to get some clout and I am raising the temp. I plan to order some HITH Gaurd or simmilar med as soon as I get done with this reply. I am also gona launch my water change assuault before I dose with the clout later today. Thanks for the reply's.

ANOTHER question or same one as erlier - HOW long shpould I run the temp at 92?????

Thanks, Arkangel77

Arkangel, take a look at this.

and this:

You will need to treat the whole tank. Don't give up, it can be cured rather easily if you follow the recommended directions. It's probably been brewing in the discus all along and hopefully will be the last of the problems for you now that you're feeding them better and you have increased the water change routine for them.

I am sure this is a stupid question but would this be a good choice?

or would this be better?

or is it 6 one 1/2 dozen the other?

The one from PetSolutions is 100% metro, that's the one I would use. As far as temp at 92 goes, I don't know. Be careful that the water stays well oxygenated at that high temp. And follow the directions on the meds for temperature.

A lot of discus owners buy their metro here:
http://www.jehmco.com/html/medications.html

And from one of the SD team members who has treated:

"I have used metro several times, all effectively.

Once on discus at 400 mg /10 gal , every 8 hours, for 3 days, temp 94 F for 10 days. Also mixed metro in food. Full cure"

And another:
"I have used metro for years, I dose at 250mg per 10 gals
3 treatments over 5 days 25% water change between each dose, raise the temp to 93 degrees. I find sometimes that it takes the discus a week or so to get back on their feeding but it has worked for me every time. I use a pill crusher/splitter to grind the tablets into powder disolve it in tank water in a bottle with a cap shake it up no problem"

I am going to order from PetSolutions right now. I am going to Up the temp (well I have already started to do that. and I am going to try to treat for at least a week to 10 days. I have a Wet dry system with a BIG air stone in the tank so I think Oxygen will be OK but I will keep a close watch on it. I will fallow the meds instruction for sure! Thanks for the help. I will let you know how I make out.
