I got some plants!

is the stringy stuff purple? if it is, then it is normal.

they usually charge more for purple string.

i would recommend just using an iron supplement with fert tabs in the substrate

my fert has iron...

no it's not purple.. it's fuzzy white.

what about the other plant?

ima try to get another pic, just that out of batts...

camboba needs high light! I hope you have at least 2.5-3 WPG.

wait, what? I thought it was stargrass! the plastic plants look like cambobas... eww the carbon finger hole thing has white fuzzy stuff on it! and when i took the carbon out, stuff flew out of my filter! looks like poop...

anyways, i put in the fert.

soo wait, my filter can't suck up poop anymore? i think i'll crash my cycle..

You don't actually have to take out your carbon pad--it only works as a chemical filter for the first couple of days. After that it just works as another place for the bacteria to live. You just don't need to replace it with activated carbon. You can replace it with something that provides more space for the bacteria to colonize, but it isn't that important.

you should shut off the filter, remove the pad and start it again.

the second picture is stargrass heteranthera zosterfolia, the first picture is water sprite. the rest are plastic.
iron should be in its own supplement so it can be added daily. iron precipitates very rapidly.

wait so can i add fert and carbon?
no, you add fert and take out carbon, confused one.

and keep carbon out?

argh i put the carbon back in

dreaming about what other plants to add...
yes, if you have carbon in, ferts are useless. OUT WITH THE CARBON!!! sorry! accidental caps lock, but you get the point.
