:( I'm facing a bit of a problem. My 55 gallon tank is completely ready for stocking. However I can't make up my mind about what to put in there. One minute I want a planted tank full of dwarf puffers, the other I want some dangerous cichlids. One day I walk into petsmart and think how nice some silver dollars would be mixed in with some hatchetfish and some kind of bottom dweller. The next Day I'll walk into petco and think how nice a senegal bichir would be. To put it bluntly: I can't make up my mind about what to put in my tank. If I put in one kind, that basically cuts the list about other kinds I can put in there very much. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to make your mind about what should go in the tank?

If variety appeals to you more than an individual species, go community. If you prefer a species that would limit the other inhabitants based on compatibility (water or aggresion), be 110% sure.

Well the only real kind of thing I want is a planted tank. What fish do well in a planted tank? And will silver dollars eat all my plants completely even if I feed them well?

i wouldn't mix silver dollars with plants if the longterm health of the plants is a priority. A planted tank with a pair of dwarf cichlids and some tetras would be fantastic.

I would personally go with a tank with some variety. A tank full of DPs would like nice, but if its your only tank it would seem a bit bland, to me atleast.

I would suggest cichlids or a community setup.
