Grrr....

So half my tank is doin great, the other half... sucks.

My water lettuce is reproducing like... guppies. I started with a few leaves, n i now have billions. My hygro is growing like weeds, and the sunset even has some red.

But the water sprite is yellow n not growing and plants keep not staying rooted -grumbles-

Not to mention the algae, which I have *almost* conquered. (i'm not worried, i was over feeding with too much light, i think. So, problem almost solved.)

And my ten gallon, which i spent an afternoon adding more gravel to, doing a 100% water change and then planting it with all my left overs (poor fish were traumatized) some how has managed to become unplanted. It was gorgeous.. and now, the plants are all floating. -grumble-

Anyways, just had to rant, as i expect to be doing hellish replanting tomorrow, which is awful. You get half done and then it gets too crowded n you find yourself uprooting pantees to plant new ones.

I've been there. I had a piece of driftwood that looked beautiful with java moss on it for 3 weeks, except I noticed that the thread tying it around had come off. So when I tried to re-tie it, the all of the Java moss came off. After I put it on again and tied it around again, it now looks like a flat java moss covered piece of wood.

I just did this a few hours ago. I ordered a lot of rotala verticillaris and uprooted a lot of my plants to make room for it. After I finished planting, I took a look at my tank and was extremely disappointed. I went back and uproted the new plants and stuck back the plants I just recently uprooted back into their place. It was awful :-(
Planting stinks but the final product is very rewarding!
Just hang in there!! :-)

aww that sucks david. Mine has not had that problem *yet* (knocks on wood). I just tied mine on last week, so we'll see how it does.

I used fishing line on mine, sos it wont break/degrade. What did you use?

yadokari.. yuck. That sucks. I know what you mean about replanting. Over.. and over... and over.

I'm seriously contemplating digging up my reluctant water sprite rahehr than deal with it's issues. lol.

lol bumpy. Its not too many, just that they won't cooperate. Silly things dont know i am the boss.

However, if you are still looking for plants when it comes time to trim, i'm happy to help you out. (my hygro is almost there, a few pieces are close to the top of the water. Another week or so...)

Is the water sprite new?

In my experience with water sprite, even ones with roots tend to melt first. Then small leaves begin to sprout out of the melted leaves.

Good to know, thanks. I'll give it some more time, certainly (spent too much to get rid of it). Just frustrated because

I want it pretty, and I want it pretty now!!

lol.

I used polyester thread on both wraps of the wood, except on the first one, I tied it loosely and only wrapped it around the wood a few times. Now I used the same polyester thread except that this time, I tied it on real tight and I wrapped it around the wood like 20 times.
