I hate Platys!

Well he died during the night in my QT tank. But the plus side of this is I can buy anoth male P. Taenaitus sub species or a P. Pulcher and see what kind of hybrid I end up with after the others pair off and I remove the solo fish.

But don't forget the other + side.......another tank specifically for live bearers!!!!! :evil_lol:

Great way to sneak in another necessary tank and provide some live protein for your cichlids as they grow :lipssealedsmilie: !!!

I think they just carry the illness in their genes.

Please forgive a newbie for butting in, but this statement makes no sense. Genetic diseases certainly exist and could be passed on to offspring, but they cannot be contagious.

I guess some of you don't get it. While I still hate Platys. This thread was meant to be a joke. It was a way of venting my frustration of losing a prized fish. As i sated before I never had and illness issues with any of my fish until I got Platys. It started with ick that killed one of my GBR's and ended with Dropsy that killed a Platy, Black Varitus and a P. Taenaitus from what I hope to be a breeding colony to offset some of the cost of this hobby.

If it is meant as a joke then that is fine.Of course you do not truly hate platies or you just would just not have them or tolerate them. I am sure you were just venting about the very real reality that livebearers tend to bring disease to the tank seemingly a lot easier then other fish. I really like platies because they are so colorful and tend to be quite hardy if you get a good bunh and they have spent time in quarantine.

I think the idea of getting another tank dedicated solely to livebearers so she can have wat she wants is a great idea. In fact I might even say it isa necessity.
