I'm completely new to cichlids so forgive the n00b question but, can I just keep one ram, or two females?
yes, one ram would do fine. not sure about 2 females, though.

OK, here is what sounds cool to me right now...
1 or 2 female rams
around 12-15 neons
my guppy
hopefully some shrimp.

Is that as much as I can put in? If not what else?

Anyone? Well, here it goes; I give thine bulletin an official BUMP.

I believe that you said that you going all natural. That means live plants to. Yes a blue ram would look awesome in that tank, I'm sure that the ram would leave all the other fish alone. They are not very mean. Make sure you have enough light with the fish tank if you are going live plants. Good luck with the tank. Post some pics when your all done setting it up.

Oh, we're talking weeks, possibly months away. This is assuming I can get the thing in the first place. (Fingers crossed) Also what do I have to do to turn a previously BW tank into FW? I gather it's been empty for months but is there anything I need to keep mindful of? Thanks for the help everyone!

Dont understand what you are saying. Explain more pls

I'm told that it was used for brackish water (ie.still has old crushed coral in the bottom) and just wanted to know if I had to clean it especially hard to make sure there is no salt residue or something.

Yes, I love my Li's. They're so cute, by far my fav. fish.

So a ram couldn't work with cories? I'm starting to warm up to the idea :)
