Early this week I moved my 20 gallon tank to a different room to make space for my new 55 gallon tank and stand.

I had the 20 empty except for gravel and a gallon of water so I could carry it. Right before I filled it back up, I found a big 1.5 inch MTS in the gravel. I didn't know I had any of that kind of snail, and upon looking more, I definitely only have one.

I suppose I have a male then?

MTS? I am a little slow with this one Mystery snail?

I think they need two to reproduce, but any two can reproduce together. Some folks say they hide out during the day and only come out at night. I see mine all the time. If you really want them get a few more from petsmrt/co and slightly overfeed. Make sure you keep up with water changes if you do that. There is an article on snails by dave if you want to learm more

Hermaphrodites can't fertilize themselves.

Melanoides tuberculata (tubercularia?) are not hermaphrodites... they are a sexual live bearer. The females tend to be noticeably smaller than the males. It could be a male, that is a rather large MTS you have there.

Hey, Mvigor..where are you?? I have plenty..would be happy to send you some. I had one for a long time...now I have lots.
