x10 Neon tetra or some thing else i dont know what can go with rams
x1 Clown Pleco or corycats

or..........

Orange Leleupi Cichlid dont know how many
Brevis Cichlid
cory cats or something to clean the tank

what one do u think will be more ative and fun or what do u suggest

thanks agian

Rams prefer warmer water than neons or cories, but otherwise the first setup should work fine. The one change would be if you go the cory route get at least 4 - they like to school and interact. You could also get the clown pleco with a group of cories.

The African setup should be fine too. You just need to maintain a rocky half of the tank for the leleupi and a shelly half for the brevis. You can start with several leleupi but once a pair forms they will probably eliminate the others. You can probably maintain multiple pairs of brevis since each pair like its own shell, but you wouldn't have enough floor space for more than 2 or 3 pairs.

If you go the African route you should eliminate the cory from your plans. It would not be needed (the cichlids eat off the substrate themselves, and the sandy bottom the brevis need for their shells wouldn't be condusive to food falling in to be dug up by the cories). And more importantly, no cories prefer water as hard and alkaline as Tanganyikan cichlids, and they would likely get beaten up when they got in the way of pairing cichlids. If you must have a catfish in the tank something like a Synodontus petricola might work, but would likely get in the way of the cichlids' breeding efforts in a tank that size - to either its own detriment or that of any fry.

would they both work in a 20 or 29 , and witch one would be more fun and easy for biggener sorta LOL :D

hey the rams only live for one year maybe 2 someone said. soo i was wondering what other fish could i have thats like rams or Dwarf Cichlids , tank 2 wont be active , that is what i heard too , but now i really dont have any chooses soo i need help

I'm not sure why you think tank 2 won't be very active.

If you get a few pairs of brevis they will be displaying to each other and eventually trying to breed. If you get a group of young leleupi they will be jockeying for status until a pair forms. After which the pair will be breeding, raising fry and displying to the shellies. If you want some more activity you could get some livebearers like platies or swordtails to swim in the upper strata of the tank.

As for possible replacements for the rams in tank 1, there are other dwarf or dwarf-like cichlids, such as kribs or smiling acaras. But they have larger territorial requirements, which would not be healthy for any cories.

I agree that the corys would do better with the rams...not the africans. If you go with africans, synodontis cats would be a much better choice.

The cories won't do well in either case. Rams will pick on the cories a lot! I tried this and 2 of my 3 cories died because of the pestering rams, I sold the last one before it could die. If you do get rams, make sure you get some that were bred in either europe or america. Most rams are bred in asia, and they are real fragile, hence the myth that they don't live long. If I were you I'd go with a 29 but if you do get a 20, get a 20 long, not tall.
I have a 29 and these are it's inhabitants, maybe this will help:
2 dwarf gouramis
1 male blue ram (had a female, but she died)
1 male kribensis
2 otos
8 white clouds
assorted shrimp (amano, cherry, and ghost)
There are pics in my sig if you care to look, good luck figuring out what you want to do.
