Hello everyone..
So today I picked up a school of 6 black skirt tetras.. I heard they were hardy fish, eat a variety of food, and were playful so I went ahead and picked them up for my 10 gallon tank.
I did the research on them and knew they preferred subdued lighting conditions... I have 2 cfl lights on the hood of my tank and they are pretty bright.. so I kinda knew they wouldnt like it too much, but I was told they would soon acclimate themselves and get used to it over a few days.
So anyways, I took out the cfls and replaced them with generic daytime lights that came with the hood when i bought it.. less light and they are swimmming around a bit more, but I think they just need to get used to their new home.
I have a planted tank, with neutral substrate, and a few lava rocks for the landscape..
Any thoughts and or advice?
I fed them a combination of crushed brine shrimp and tropical flakes and WOW, they eat like tiny piranhas!
its pretty cool to watch them feed, they are neat fish for sure
and i like how they chase each other around, very playful
