I have to pay shipping

Buy another identical heater, take it out of the box, clean up the old one, put it back in the box, and return it as defective to the retailer. The Marineland sales guy comes by once a month or so and replaces all of their stuff or credits their account and you don't get stuck with shipping and wait times. Unless your LFS is 50 miles away or something you solve the problem in a few hours and only feel a little bit like a criminal.......

Did I say that out loud? :22_yikes:

So um.... Wow nice suggestions guys lol
I think I will wait until I get payed get a different new one and send this one back and keep the replacement. I think people keep buying this kind of heater BECAUSE of the warranty. I think it is a general assumption that a lifetime guarantee is a marker of a good product that is why I bought it. Well that and I forgot to shut a glass one off before cleaning a tank and the heater burst. What a nightmare I replaced that one with another glass one but when I did this big tank I thought I'de try this kind......silly me

Used to be in sales.
I used to let my stores do it to save the customers the hassle of returning things under warranty. The stores allowed 30 to 90 days... I just let them go as long as they felt that they needed to go to satisfy the customer. I was returning items anyway... the net result was that the customer didn't have to pay shipping and my trunk had a couple more things in it. Company didn't care as long as the store was happy... store didn't care as long as the customer was happy. I didn't care as long as everyone else was happy.
:D

Call your local rep. for Marineland, they normally have a person who works the area with the LFS,that carry their products,if its a stealth, there should be a lifetime warranty, and they will replace it free and ship you another, without having to ship the old unit,(past dealings with them)my old one is still on the shelf.Tell them bad news travels quicker than good news, ask if they would rather you buy a Fluval instead.Competition always gets action...
