You mean shrimp are out of the question with three spots?
In my experience. My opalines will chow down on them. But then again 8 of my fish in that tank died due to an unexpected spawning of the two lovebirds, so perhaps mine are particularly aggressive??? But, in general, I would not recommend trying ghost shrimp with larger gouramis.
Take care,
Mary.

Um, well that throws off my plans a bit... However my three spot has been quite mellow (with the exception of other gouramies) compared to what I've read of other three spots doing, and I did have her with gohst shrimp for a month when I first got her (however, she was only 1-2 inches at the time) until the gohsts died on me, so maybe I could pull it off? if not, I've got other tanks I can transefer the survivers to., if the gourami decides she likes live shrimp.

Hey dorkfish,
My answer to you is a bit different just because I know you're experienced. Give it a try. Also, a lot of plants and hiding spots in the tank would help, in case she is a little too interested.

I have my ghost shrimp in my 29 gallon, affectionately referred as my tetra shoaling tank. For awhile the shrimp lived under a piece of driftwood in the tank because the bleeding hearts and serpaes were just a little too interested. But now they're out all the time and the fish pay them no mind. The 29 has alot of plants and driftwood for them to hide in and under. But I see them out in the open all the time now.
Take care,
Mary.

wow, good for you. I haven't seen mine in weeks.... I don't think they're dead, or i'd smell it.

And no offense Jay223. You have some other issues with your tank that you need to be concentrating on. The proper number of fish in your schools, etc. Whether you want to keep your gouramis or not as you posted somewhere else. I don't think you should be thinking about adding more types of creatures, but giving the ones you have the best possible social and living conditions that you can. IMO.
Take care,
Mary.

It's kind of a small tank you have, Fish. And from what I've read most bettas are notorious for making shrimp into snacks, that's why I haven't tried any in my betta tanks. But I hope they are in there somewhere. Mine LOVE frozen brine shrimp and for awhile the only reason I knew they were there and alive was when they'd come swarming out of their hiding places for the every other night brine shrimp feeding... :)
Take care,
Mary.

well, my betta is the nicest on the planet earth. he won't even eat freeze dried bloodworms, and certianly not my GS. plus, IME when something like that happens, there's shrimp guts everywhere the next day...

LOL! A little TOO much detail... :) Hope your shrimp come out of hiding soon.

well... I do have an enormous mat of java moss that takes up over half the tank.... they're probably in there.
