I just bought a Banjo Cat story.(pic)

I have neons with mine, (some very small) and I still have all of them. I love him though, it's so exciting to see him.

Neon Tetra, I am also getting apple snails for the tank and i've read they like them too, I'm not sure i like the idea of a predator at night, I looked at a bunch of sites before I bought him that said entirely peaceful wouldnt' hurt a fly and then I was looking at pictures today and stumbled on the fact they eat snails and small fish like neons! :(
I could keep the Banjo Cat in my 20 gallon but I am going to be turning it mildly brackish pretty mild like .003 no higher as I want to keep my plants and a figure 8 puffer.
I'm not sure if the Bunocephalus banjo cat will tolerate mild brackish or not.
I think taking him back is probably safest but I do like him...
Anyone kept one in mild brackish water? I have put him in there now to separate him incase he goes on a killing spree..

Aussie mine was on top of the driftwood today, soo coool!! I didnt' see him at all yesterday. This was just after I read the bad news.. :(

Mine is never on my driftwood :(

Mine was :dance2: He looked soo cool because he totally blended in but I saw him it was great.. :)

If I could keep him in my puffer tank that would be great for him because of all the clam, mussel and prawn debris.
I have looked though I saw one person said they can tolerate it but a fact sheet said they were freshwater the Bunocephalus variety anyway.
I dont' know that much about brackish water I have no idea how much salt I would be putting in to get it to .0003 I have a refractometer but I havn't even started to look into all that I want my plants to get nice and big before I start adding salt so they have a better chance of making it.

I wouldn't try it, he's from the amazon; a very non-BW environment.

The last post on this thread mentions them eating bumblebee gobies and tolerating brackish I wonder if they have the breed of banjo mixed up!! I would hope so bumble bees are bigger than neons arn't they?
