Hey guys, i was just at a garage sale and they had a never opened penguin 330 bio wheel power filter for $10, yet i only had $5 on me, so the guy just offered to give it to me for 5 to get rid of it. sounds like a STEAL to me.

it's obviously an older model, but it's probably similiar to the 350, just the older versionl? it says 330 gph, so how would i calculate how big of a tank it could handle?

I like the 7x water capacity per hour guideline, so it should be usable up to 45g or so.

i knew someone would ask this, but no it actually doesnt say what the max tank size is. all it gives is 330 gallons per hour

my tank was is 10x filtered per hour when i had danios, its not the size of the tank that matters, its what type of fish you have in your tank. So... what fish are you planning on?

well i already have 2 established tanks. I have a 38 gallon with 6 rummynoses, 3 german blue rams, a red tail black shark, about 4 guppies i plan on moving to a 29 gallon, and a pair of gardneri killies. i plan to get a pair or 2 of gold rams also.

on the 38 right now i have a penguin 200 (200 gph + up to 50 gallon tanks) as well as an older whisper second nature filter(i think its up to 20 gallon tanks). but i also have a sponge filter in there that i was hoping would get some bacteria on so i could move it to my breeding tank.

I planned on moving the penguin 200 to my 29 gallon, taking off the whisper, and setting up this penguin 330 on my 38. Im gonna leave that sponge filter in there for a little longer just to help fight any spikes.

would this work ?

should work, i know bolivian rams dont like too much current but cant comment on the blue or gold rams. Whats the total flow rate of the filters in the 38 gallon (not including the 330)

as of right now..

38 gallon - penguin 200 (200 gallons per hour) and an old whisper second nature(no idea abotu GPH)

29 gallon- fluval 103 cannister, and a whisper 20.

if the wisper is rated for 20 gallons im guessing its 100 gph. So using the 330 will be fine if your fish you have now dont mind a bit of current.
