last night when i went to go feed my fish i noticed my bala shark looked funny his mouth was potruding and upon futher inspection i saw a jumbo chunk of gravel stuck up in his mouth. i was like holly crap wtf. he was trying so hard to spit it out and he couldnt eat anything (he tried he tried alot) and so i tryed taking matters into my own hands i netted him in the biggest net i had i kept him in the water at the top of the tank and i gently held him and was trying to get the chunk of gravel out with a tiny pair of twezzers but it was of no use and he was doing worse and worse so i had to send him the way of old yeller.
normally with alot of my fish this wouldnt have been so sad but i bought him for like 3 bucks when he was barely two inches and he was over four.

Sorry to hear that  !! But now I'm paranoid!! My balas are as big of scavengers as my corys and I see them kind of suck up a bit of gravel and move it around while they're searching for food all the time... Do you think thats what happened?

its not good to euthanize a fish by throwing it in the toilet,,imagine,,hes still alive and u put him on the bowl with chlorinated water...naah
ive rarely had to eauthanize a fish but when the time comes i take it out and wrap it in a paper towel and put him in the freezer,,then the next day it goes down the ole mighty toilet,,they will suffer much less ;)

sorry about your loss...

If you flush the toilet, assuming you are connected to a sewer system, the fish go into the sewer and float however many miles until they reach Senor Grinder.

befor i flushed him i put him in a cup with baking soda he went quick. (freezing would be horrible i mite as well have left him in the tank to strarve to death. and if the freezer is such a good method then it would of only take a few min. at the most not over night)

Fish actually don't "feel" pain in the sense we do. You might think they are, but it's a simple instinctive reaction, as someone has posted on here before.
