But my cichlids are pretty boring so far. I don't want any of them to get hurt, but a little gill flaring at least would be nice. Otherwise why have aggressive cichlids? My 2 convicts do not even spawn, they are definitely a pair. They dig very rarely, and thats about it. I have a 125 gallon tank, lots of caves and driftwood. Its been up for 3 months and the nitrites and ammonia etc. are great. I have 1 green terror (4 inch), 1 texas(3 inch),2 jd (2 and 3 inch),2 convicts(2 inch female and 3.5 inch male). I also have 5, 3/4 inch tiger barbs which they ignore completely. Do I have a bunch of sissys or have I found the perfect balance which has created cichlid utopia?

All your cichlids are still small. I hope you realize that Tex will be bigger than other cichlids in your tank when full grown. And it is more aggressive too.

IMO, with that mix, I don't think you will have Utopia waiting for you...down the road.

Other than the texas, does the others have a chance of staying together in the 125 as adults?

convicts will get some blue and purple color two them when they are a pair. easy way to tell

Yes. And just hope that your GT grows faster than others. And hope he/she does rule the tank.

the Gt will definitely rule that tank once he/she grows up and matures. the rest are still small and timid but they will get more aggressive with time.
