So I recently changed my tank over to rcs as many of you here have probably seen. They seemed to be doing really well but over the past two weeks Ive lost 3 of them for some unknown reason. I routinely check parameters and everything is always at zero except for nitrate which is rarely a couple ppm. The other weird thing is it has all been males from what I can tell (they are a very very pale red). I even have a couple tiny juvies in there doing great. Any ideas?

I found another one this morning! A big female dead wtf :irked:

Are they in a tank by themselves? What type of water conditioner are you using? Either way I would do a large water change just in case.

They are with a couple amanos and ramshorns. I use API Stress Coat + and do regular weekly water changes as well as cleaning

Ditch the stress coat. Many "water conditioners" contain chemicals harmful for inverts, but not for fish. I had a similar episode with my gf's tank and couldn't figure out why all the inverts were dying... turned out that she was adding "water conditioners" and I wasn't. Tap water conditioner is fine but I'd stay clear from the rest.

Cool, thanks. Ill have to try that.

Well Ive been using prime for the past 2+ weeks but Ive still lost another 4. My two amanos are still alive and perfectly fine. I also put my molly in there and she is swimming around fine too. Any other ideas? Am I just bad at rcs or what :irked:

Temp is a constant 79, does not change in my place much if at all

So heres something weird. This morning I noticed a couple little pellets of leftover food and they had this fuzzy halo shaped thing growing on them. Never seen this in any of my tanks, any ideas? Is it possible this is also killing the rcs?
